Finding skilled workers is no easy task. In order to reach potential applicants, companies looking for qualified personnel need to adapt their strategies. New paths need to be taken without abandoning the tried and tested ones.
medien.jobs, the career portal of our trade magazine Börsenblatt, recently launched a new upgrade that allows the platform's job advertisements to be extended into social media in a targeted manner. We asked our responsible colleague Johannes what this is all about.

- What does the term “social recruiting” mean?
In short, it refers to recruitment in social networks such as Facebook, Instagram or Linkedin. This can be done passively through sponsored content. Or it can also be done actively by sourcing, i.e. writing directly to users. - How does your company support recruitment in social media?
By distributing job advertisements on medien.jobs via our new additional service on Facebook and Instagram. We use an AI-supported process for the right targeting, i.e. addressing the right target group. We work together with the recently awarded agency professionals from Jobiqo. After all, job advertisements perform very differently on social media than advertisements for products or services. - Why should recruiters rely on your service?
Because resources in HR departments are finite, while the demands on recruiting are increasing. The number of employees who are actively looking for new jobs is falling sharply. This makes it increasingly important for employers to draw the attention of passive job seekers to vacancies. And this is exactly what we offer a simple solution for with our new social media upgrade. - What other recruiting trends do you see for 2025?
A continuation of last year's trends. I'll pick out three: AI will be part of everyday working life. Whether it's creating job advertisements, approaching suitable candidates or preparing individual interview questions. Budgets for recruiting remain limited, so channels are being selected in a targeted manner instead of going broad. And employers now see themselves as the applicants, so employer branding is being further expanded.
