Meet & Dance Part 3

Speed Dating with Books Close to the Heart and Silent Disco

Personal recommendations are still the best way to discover the gems in the flood of new releases. That's why our new infotainment format “Meet & Dance” at the Leipziger Buchmesse gives a whole dozen bloggers a chance to have their say. In speed-dating style, they will each briefly and succinctly present their three individual favorites from the publishers' spring programs. To keep the momentum going, the participants switch between four stations so that they get to know twelve new books within an hour. Afterwards, everyone gets together to dance to the bloggers' favorite songs at the Silent Disco.

“Meet & Dance” is organized by the companies of the Börsenvereinsgruppe: Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels, Frankfurter Buchmesse, Mediacampus Frankfurt and MVB.

This event will be held in German language.

Venue: Leipziger Buchmesse | Zentrum Börsenverein | Hall 5, H 600

Following booklovers will present themselves and their favourite books at this "Meet & Dance" timeslot:

Ausgebucht

My name is Julia and I am 45 years old. In my first life I was a nurse, until I decided to turn my hobby into a career just over 2 years ago. Since then I've been working in a small, independent bookshop where I'm responsible for children's and young adult books. I like to read books outside the mainstream and in my blog “Ausgebucht” I only review books from indie publishers, especially in the graphic novel, fiction and fantasy genres.

I'm currently studying audiovisual media and I've loved reading ever since I was a little kid. I really love fantasy, (dark) romance and their sub-genres, as well as novels. Every now and then I also make forays into other genres. When I have the time, I also like to write my own stories and travel as much as possible. I recently spent a semester in Scotland and was a member of the book club there! Often I'm just daydreaming and going on adventures. Very often I'm in Hogwarts, Middle-earth or Nimmernie. Now and again I also have adventures with the Straw Hats or am out and about in Howl's Moving Castle. My perfect reading day would be in a comfy armchair with a delicious matcha latté and a wonderful 5-star read! Afterwards, it would be nice to watch a Disney movie with Japanese food or pancakes.

As a child I never knew what I wanted to be, even as an adult I'm still not sure. I just knew I had to earn money to finance my love of reading! I love fantasy, dark romance and cowboy books! Worlds in which I can immerse myself and escape the stresses of everyday life. My safe space next to books is the sea. That's why I really want to get my diving license this year. Besides reading and the sea, I also love Disney and Star Wars. It's not a good year if I haven't been to Disney World. My mom and I have established a tradition of taking a mother-daughter vacation to Disney together every few years and this year is it and I love spending time with her like this. Star Wars is something that I associate with my dad, he was away on business trips a lot when I was growing up and whenever he came home we would watch Star Wars - it's something that will connect us forever and I'm so grateful for that.

For me, everything revolves around books! Whether as a moderator at events, organizer of reading events, my work as a content creator and bookfluencer in the digital space or with out of the box marketing for books and events. The main thing is to be different, authentic and approachable.
