Press Release
More Reach for Metabooks in Mexico
Metadata database with over 13,000 new titles | distributor Océano and POD provider Bibliomanager acquired as new customers | cooperation with Monterrey book fair
The Metabooks platform from technology and information provider MVB is expanding its position in the Mexican market. Since August 2024, more than 13,000 titles have been added to the metadata database. More and more companies in the sector are relying on standardized product information to market their books. The biggest new addition is the Spanish distributor Océano, which supplies the Mexican market with book imports from Spain – at the same time the company serves as a publisher in Mexico. The backlist comprises more than 2,000 national titles and 8,000 imported ones. Another important MVB customer and ally is Bibliomanager, a Print-on-Demand (PoD) service provider with extensive experience in Latin America, which will integrate Metabooks as its source of standardized metadata. Currently, the teams from Bibliomanager and MVB teams are examining further synergies between their platforms and services.
Since this year, the most important book fair in northern Mexico, the Monterrey International Book Fair (FILMTY) – held from September 28 to October 6, 2024, in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León – has been relying on the information of active titles in Metabooks to provide information on its website and catalog of available books.
Ricardo Costa, managing director of MVB in Mexico and Brazil, explains: “The current contracts concluded with well-known market players such as Océano, Bibliomanager, and FILMTY make working with Metabooks even more attractive for the entire industry. The integration of our data into other systems eliminates a lot of manual and error-prone work for all parties involved, increasing data quality at the same time. This makes trading books in Mexico more efficient.”
Gustavo Vorobechik, director of Bibliomanager, also highlighted: "The alliance between MVB and Bibliomanager will provide a scenario that will increase sales for publishers, bookstores and distributors on a global level. Both companies share a common goal, which is the accessibility and dissemination of the editorial product, making any book available in a standardized way for printing in more than 11 countries. An agreement that will benefit all the actors in the book value chain, but especially the reader, seeing how the offer of available titles and their bibliodiversity increases."
